Internship Program

Our 8-10 week IMC internship program is tailored to allow students to work on the projects that interest them. You will not be “just an intern” working in Excel and fetching coffee. As an intern at IMC, you will have the opportunity to work on real projects that impact our business immediately. Working alongside some of the best traders and developers from around the world, we guarantee that you will walk away this summer with a true understanding of our business within trading and technology.

Trading interns

As a trading intern, you will be working on real projects and trading applications that IMC traders use on a daily basis. Our program is structured so that you will learn about the trading industry and market making while gaining experience in software development. Trader interns will be in a team environment working with software developer interns and interacting with all levels of the business. Our projects are selected weeks before you begin the internship so that you are working on real problems that our traders need solutions for. In addition, you will spend the summer rotating on different trading desks to learn about the many different asset classes we trade, along with participating in theory sessions and mock trading.

Software development interns

As a software developer intern at IMC, you will be applying your unique software engineering techniques and learning how programming applies within the trading industry. IMC gives you the freedom to make pragmatic decisions about design, process, language, etc. In addition, senior developers will teach weekly sessions about best practices on design patterns, multi-threading, and methodologies. Development interns will also work in a team-oriented environment while interacting with all levels of the business. Superior technical aptitude is a must to be a developer at IMC. But more importantly, we look for individuals with unconventional and innovative ideas to contribute to the team.
